Hi, I’m Omar Hill-El, owner, designer, and general contractor at Artisans Hill.
I started Artisans Hill because I love building well-made, thoughtfully designed spaces. As families grow and hobbies expand, many homeowners find they need more room but don’t want to move. An accessory dwelling unit (ADU) or a studio shed can give you that space: a guest suite, a home office, a workshop, or a studio.
Every project starts with a site visit and a written proposal, so you have a clear cost range before we break ground. From there, we handle the permitting and zoning paperwork with your town, so you don’t have to. ADU rules vary from town to town and change often, so we stay current and bring years of experience working with local permit offices.
My background is in architectural design, carpentry, and general contracting, with over 20 years in residential and commercial construction. Because I design and lead the build, you get one point of contact from first sketch to final walkthrough. We design around how you’ll use the space and how it will be built, so the result fits your needs with minimal waste.
We are based in Raleigh-Durham and build mainly throughout the Triangle. For the right project, we also travel anywhere from Maryland to Georgia. We work with trusted tradespeople and suppliers to deliver each build.
